WEEKEND WORD.

The Upper Room Friendship Lesson

When Jesus was facing his greatest challenge, he didn't isolate Himself and he didn't make a spectacle of his suffering.  Instead, he found a quiet room in a back street of Jerusalem and told His disciples that He had eagerly desired to eat this Passover with them.

What does this Upper Room encounter mean for us today?  Listen in as we grapple with how Jesus faced suffering and how we can apply this to our lives today when facing challenges.

The First Communion

Receiving communion is one of the most central beliefs that the Church gathers around whether it be weekly or monthly.  We receive the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus and accept His forgiveness of our sins as we we are reminded of His sacrifice for us.

But when we go to the scene in the Upper Room in Luke 22, how would that first Communion have been understood and received by Jesus's disciples?  And what does that mean for us today? We discuss all of this and what it means to receive all of Jesus in this edition of Weekend Word.
